Microsoft Brings Wi-Fi 7 to Windows 11 for Unprecedented Speed and Reliability

Microsoft is ushering in the next generation of wireless networking with the introduction of Wi-Fi 7 support in the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build. Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) offers a significant leap forward, promising multi-gigabit speeds, lower latency, and improved reliability for compatible devices.

Key advancements include superwide 320MHz channels, doubling the throughput of Wi-Fi 6, along with Multi-Link Operation (MLO) for streamlined traffic distribution.

“You can experience up to 4x faster speeds than Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E, and close to 6x faster than Wi-Fi 5,” says Microsoft.

To take full advantage of Wi-Fi 7, users will need both a Wi-Fi 7 compatible router and a Wi-Fi 7 enabled computer. Several vendors have already released Wi-Fi 7 products to the market.

Microsoft’s commitment to cutting-edge technology doesn’t stop there. Along with Wi-Fi 7 advancements, the company is also rolling out support for USB4 Version 2.0, enabling blazing-fast transfer speeds of up to 80Gbps over USB Type-C cables.
