Here’s why you’re not receiving OTPs in India right now
If you’re making an online payment in India using a card or via net banking, you have to go through a two-factor authentication process. The 2FA is usually in form of a One Time Password (OTP), delivered through a text message. However, many Indians are facing troubles with payments since yesterday as their OTPs are not getting delivered. This is disrupting many online and offline businesses who rely on digital payments. is anyone else facing issues with receiving OTPs in India? Or is it just me, not receiving OTPs since yesterday 🙄 — abhishek (@abhishek_tri) March 9, 2021 Pathetic…still no… This story continues at The Next Web

The Surface Laptop 4 may arrive in April with both AMD and Intel options
Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 3 is an excellent laptop, but some people lamented that it was only available in an AMD configuration for the 15-inch model. Worry not, for it seems the Surface Laptop 4 may allow you more choice between Team Red or Team Blue. The rumor comes courtesy of German site WinFuture, which has an excellent track record with leaks. Based on the report, it appears Microsoft might offer a choice between Intel and AMD for both sizes of the laptop. Previously, you could only get an Intel Chip on the 15-inch model by buying a special ‘Surface Laptop… This story continues at The Next WebOr just read more coverage about: Intel

Apple may announce AirTags and new iPads as soon as March 23
According to a couple of leakers with solid track records, including Chinese leaker ‘Kang’ (via @DuanRui1205) and John Prosser, Apple may hold its next event as soon as March 23. Incidentally, that’s the same day OnePlus is set to launch its new phones. Apple is expected to announce its long-awaited AirTags — a fancy item-tracking system — as well as new iPads. There’s a chance we’ll see new, third-gen AirPods as well. AirTags are expected to be a Tile-like item tracking system, but on steroids. It is believed the tags will use the Ultra-Wideband radio introduced with the iPhone 11, which… This story continues at The Next WebOr just read more coverage about: Apple

Why you shouldn’t expect Tesla’s ‘Full Self Driving’ to come out of beta any time soon
Tesla’s recent decision to open its Full Self Driving (FSD) beta to new owners has created quite a splash in both the automobile and consumer tech markets. This is an exciting time to be a Tesla owner, FSD is one of the most innovative software packages we’ve seen in an automobile. But it’s also misleading. As I’ve written before, Tesla’s Full Self Driving software is not a full self driving system. It only works under certain circumstances to perform specific tasks related to driving: it cannot safely perform an end-to-end traversal that requires it to navigate city streets, highways, and parking… This story continues at The Next WebOr just read more coverage about: Tesla

AI generates trippy music video inspired by 50,000 album covers
A Spanish artist has created a trippy music video by training a deep-learning algorithm on thousands of album covers. Bruno López produced the video by using a combination of Spotify data, Python scripts, and Generative Adversarial Networks. He first created a script that downloaded the album covers for every track featured on Spotify’s official editorial playlists. The result was a dataset of around 50,000 covers with individual resolutions of 640 x 640. This was used as training data for Nvidia’s StyleGAN2 architecture, the same system that previously brought us pizzas, fursonas, and My Little Pony characters that don’t exist. After several days of training,… This story continues at The Next Web

Deepfake drag show explores AI’s social biases through interactive performances
Deepfake tech has been deployed to create a new digital drag act that explores the social biases of artificial intelligence. The Zizi Show invites audiences to choose a deepfake drag artiste and performance to watch. As the digital bodies move across the virtual stage, viewers can switch between the different AI identities to expose the methods used to generate them. The project is the brainchild of artist Jake Elwes, who created the virtual cabaret by training a neural network on videos of 13 drag performers. “There are drag kings, queens, biologically female drag queens, trans drag kings and queens, drag monsters,”… This story continues at The Next Web

The SolarWinds hack proves US cyber defenses are a mess — here’s how to fix them
The SolarWinds hack was more than just one of the most devastating cyberattacks in history. It was a major breach of national security that revealed gaps in U.S. cyber defenses. These gaps include inadequate security by a major software producer, fragmented authority for government support to the private sector, and a national shortfall in software and cybersecurity skills. None of these gaps is easily bridged, but the scope and impact of the SolarWinds attack show how critical they are to U.S. national security. The SolarWinds breach, likely carried out by a group affiliated with Russia’s FSB security service, compromised the… This story continues at The Next Web
