Twitter Opens Audio and Video Calls to All Users

Twitter/X is expanding its audio and video calling features beyond Premium subscribers. Everyone on the platform will soon be able to make and receive calls directly within the app.

The feature is integrated into Twitter’s/X’s direct messaging system. You can customize your call settings to control who can reach you. Options include:

  • People in your address book
  • People you follow
  • Verified users
  • Everyone

To adjust these settings, go to: Settings and Support > Settings and privacy > Privacy and safety > Direct messages. You’ll find the “Allow audio and video calls from:” option. If you prefer, you can disable calling completely.

Incoming calls will appear similar to regular phone calls, displaying the caller’s name (as provided to X) on your lock screen.
