Calling All Space Enthusiasts: NASA Offers Paid Year-Long Mars Simulation

Get ready to embark on a Martian adventure – without leaving Earth! NASA is seeking four volunteers to participate in a year-long Mars simulation inside a 3D-printed habitat in Houston, Texas. This simulated experience is part of the Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog (CHAPEA) program, designed to prepare for future human missions to the Red Planet.

Starting in spring 2025, selected crew members will face challenges like conducting spacewalks, growing crops, maintaining the habitat, and experiencing realistic communication delays similar to Mars conditions. This paid “mission” aims to gather vital data for an eventual human journey to Mars.

To qualify, candidates must possess a master’s degree in a STEM field and relevant professional experience or extensive piloting hours. Applications close on April 2, 2024. Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space exploration?

Don’t fancy lab life?  Hold tight – Elon Musk also envisions transporting humans to Mars… if his  still-developing “game plan” takes off!
