Fortnite is making a comeback on mobile devices, with Epic Games announcing the return of its popular title to Android globally and iOS exclusively in the European Union via the Epic Games Store.
This move comes more than four years after the game was removed from Apple’s App Store and Google Play due to ongoing legal disputes.
The return to iOS in the EU was made possible by the EU’s Digital Markets Act, which forced Apple to allow third-party app stores. However, Epic Games remains dissatisfied with the installation process, which it claims is deliberately cumbersome, due to restrictions imposed by Apple and Google.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney celebrated the partial victory, emphasizing that while EU gamers have regained access, Apple continues to block Fortnite for millions of players worldwide. The legal battle between Epic and Apple shows no signs of abating as both sides continue to grapple over market competition and app store practices.
