DuckDuckGo Readies Fully Fledged Chrome, Firefox Desktop Browsers Killer That Will Protect Your Privacy By Default

Best known as its privacy focused search engine, DuckDuckGo is currently developing a new desktop browser that will provide users with an untraceable browsing experience.

According to Weinberg, CEO of DuckDuckGo, the new browser is “much faster” than Google Chrome and has “robust privacy protection” by default. Additionally, they’ve included a “Fire” button that quickly deletes all of your browser history, saved data, and tabs with a single click.

Rather than forking Chromium or anything else, the desktop app is built around the OS-provided rendering engines (like on mobile). This will result in a cleaner interface, substantially more private, significantly quicker and eliminates any clutter associated with popular browsers. 

DuckDuckGo revealed previews of the forthcoming browser’s design and functionalities in a blog post:

The browser is now in Closed beta on MacOS, but Weinberg said in a tweet that a Windows version is on the way.
