WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, may soon offer AI-based image editing tools. A trusted leaker reports finding evidence of these features within the beta version of the app.
The upcoming tools are said to include:
- Text-to-image backdrops: Users could potentially generate custom backgrounds based on text descriptions.
- Restyling: AI could be used to alter the artistic style of images.
- Background expansion: Expand the background area of existing photos using AI.
These features mirror AI editing capabilities already found in apps like Canva and Adobe Photoshop. While Meta (WhatsApp’s parent company) hasn’t confirmed the development, leaked images suggest the features could be accessed via a new sparkle icon in WhatsApp’s image editor.
The leaker notes the tools are likely still under development and couldn’t be fully tested. It’s anticipated these features will eventually be available for both Android and iOS versions of WhatsApp.
