Google’s Gemini AI is set to enhance its functionality with a new Spotify integration, allowing users to play songs directly through voice commands. Discovered by AssembleDebug during an Android teardown, the feature enables song requests using “@spotify” followed by the desired track.
Once activated, this feature grants Gemini access to your Spotify playlists, history, and preferences. This means Gemini can incorporate your Spotify data into conversations, creating a more personalized experience. However, users must consent to share certain “relevant info” and Gemini conversations with Spotify to enable the integration.
Despite some lag in song playback demonstrated in a leaked video, the integration seems to be in advanced stages, suggesting a potential launch soon. It’s unclear if this feature will be available to all users or restricted to Spotify Premium subscribers. This follows Gemini’s previous integration with YouTube Music, highlighting Google’s push to enhance its AI capabilities through strategic partnerships.
Neither Google nor Spotify have commented on the integration’s release date or specific details.
