While this scene is fictional, it mirrors the real-life feats of a 17-year-old typist known as MythicalRocket, or simply Rocket. Despite still being in high school, Rocket has achieved astonishing speeds, recently breaking 300 words per minute (WPM). For context, the average typing speed is 40 WPM, and professional stenographers peak at around 225 WPM using specialized equipment. Rocket, however, accomplishes this on a standard QWERTY keyboard.
Rocket’s journey began about three years ago, initially spurred by gaming and chatting in Minecraft. Realizing his potential, he set incremental goals, pushing his speed from 140 WPM to over 300 WPM. His training regimen involves daily sessions on Monkeytype and Typeracer, two online platforms that helped him refine his speed and accuracy.
Currently, Rocket holds the world records for both 60-second and 15-second typing tests. Despite considering other keyboard layouts and specialized equipment, he prefers sticking with what he knows, citing the difficulty of relearning.
As Rocket prepares to graduate high school and pursue software engineering, graphic design, or cybersecurity, he remains committed to speed typing. Although he’s taking a brief hiatus, he plans to break more records and stay active in the typing community. Rocket’s story exemplifies dedication and the pursuit of excellence, proving that extraordinary skills can emerge from seemingly ordinary beginnings.
