Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are getting a major AI upgrade, offering real-time assistance and enhanced conversational abilities. Users can now initiate a conversation with “Hey Meta” and ask follow-up questions without repeating the command.
A new video feed feature provides continuous real-time help, such as identifying landmarks or assisting with grocery shopping. The glasses also offer practical features like remembering where you parked or sending voice messages via WhatsApp or Messenger.
Real-time translation for languages like Spanish, French, and Italian is coming soon, enabling users to hear translations through tiny open-ear speakers. Additionally, Meta is integrating the glasses with popular apps like Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, and iHeart, enhancing entertainment options on the go.
In a unique partnership with the app Be My Eyes, the glasses will help visually impaired users by connecting them to volunteers who can assist with describing their surroundings.
These updates align with Meta’s broader focus on AI and virtual reality, as showcased at the Meta Connect event, where they also launched the affordable Quest 3S VR headset.
