Google is reportedly developing an AI assistant, tentatively called “Project Jarvis,” to automate tasks directly within Chrome, allowing users to accomplish things like online shopping, booking travel, or researching topics without manual input.
Jarvis is powered by Google’s Gemini AI and may function similarly to Microsoft’s Recall AI, which takes screenshots of the user’s screen to understand context. However, Jarvis is expected to be more advanced, with capabilities beyond Recall, potentially able to handle complex tasks across various sites and applications.
Currently, Jarvis faces some speed limitations, as it takes a few seconds to process data before acting. It’s unknown if Jarvis will extend to mobile browsers or standalone applications beyond Chrome.
Google may release it in limited testing as early as December, possibly alongside an upgraded Gemini model 2.0. This move aligns with CEO Sundar Pichai’s recent vision for “intelligent agents” capable of multi-step planning and decision-making, offering users a supervised AI assistant to manage tasks seamlessly across digital platforms.
