Get ready for a new way to share on TikTok! The company has confirmed it will soon launch a dedicated photo-sharing app called ‘TikTok Notes’. Users have seen pop-up messages indicating their current and future TikTok photo posts may automatically be shared on the new platform, though they can opt out.
This isn’t entirely unexpected; leaks last month hinted at an app called ‘TikTok Photos’. While the name appears to have changed, the core idea remains the same.
TikTok’s statement highlights their desire to expand beyond video: “We’re exploring ways to empower our community to create and share their creativity with photos and text in a dedicated space for those formats.”
This move comes after TikTok introduced “Photo Mode” in 2022 for carousel-style image posts and longer captions.
Despite TikTok Notes, the app’s future in the US remains uncertain. The Senate is still considering whether TikTok’s potential security risks warrant a ban for its millions of US users.
