Google Rolls Out AI-Powered Security Features to Stop Phone Theft

Google is rolling out new AI-powered security features for Android that can lock your phone automatically if it’s stolen.

These features—Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock—use artificial intelligence to detect suspicious activity like a phone being snatched while you’re on foot, cycling, or in a car. If the AI suspects theft, the phone will lock immediately to block unauthorized access.

Offline Device Lock secures the phone if it’s kept offline for too long, while Remote Lock lets you lock your device using only your mobile number, a useful backup if you’re unable to access Google’s “Find My Device.”

As smartphone theft and cybercrime increase, these features aim to keep your data secure even in emergencies. Google is currently testing the features in beta, with a wider release expected soon.
