The Rhysida ransomware group has been blamed for a cyberattack on Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on August 24.
The attack disrupted key airport services, including baggage handling, check-in kiosks, Wi-Fi, and display boards. While most issues have been resolved, the airport’s website and internal portals remain down.
The Port of Seattle is working with forensics experts and law enforcement to secure its systems and has not seen further unauthorized activity since the breach.
The Port’s leadership has confirmed that they will not pay the ransom, emphasizing their commitment to protecting taxpayer dollars and enhancing future security measures.
Rhysida, known for targeting Windows systems, has previously attacked other high-profile entities, including Sony’s Insomniac Games.
