Starting July 10, 2024, Microsoft will discontinue the Copilot GPT Builder feature for Copilot Pro, according to an email announcement to subscribers reported by Windows Latest. Users will no longer be able to create or access custom GPTs through Copilot Pro, as Microsoft shifts focus to other AI features aimed at enhancing the service.
Introduced in January alongside Copilot Pro—a $20 per month premium version of the AI assistant—the Copilot GPT Builder allowed users to create custom GPTs using simple prompts. However, Microsoft has decided to remove this functionality and will delete all existing Copilot GPTs and related data. Subscribers are advised to save any custom instructions they wish to retain before the deadline.
While the custom GPTs will no longer be available in Copilot Pro, Microsoft reassures users that GPT features will still be accessible for commercial and enterprise accounts. Copilot Pro will continue to offer other benefits, such as priority access to GPT-4 during peak hours and integration with Microsoft apps like Teams, Outlook, and Office.
The removal of the Copilot GPT Builder leaves a noticeable gap in Copilot Pro’s offerings, reflecting a pivot in Microsoft’s strategy to refine and improve its AI tools for consumers.
