Microsoft has recently introduced a standalone Copilot AI chatbot app specifically for Android users. Previously integrated within the Bing mobile app, this dedicated app was discreetly released, as reported by Neowin. The launch was first noticed by a user, @techosarusrex, who shared a screenshot on social media.
The Copilot app offers functionalities akin to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, enabling users to ask questions, generate images, and request content directly from their smartphones. A notable feature of the app is its access to the latest GPT-4 models, a privilege typically reserved for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, according to The Verge.
Microsoft’s decision to rebrand Bing Chat to Copilot occurred last month. Bing Chat had initially been launched within the Bing search engine earlier this year, where it remains accessible. In addition to its presence on Android, Copilot is also accessible through a dedicated web interface for desktop interaction and is available on Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs.
While Android users enjoy the standalone app, iOS users currently have access to Copilot only through the Bing app. This development marks a significant step in Microsoft’s continued investment in advanced AI technologies and their integration into everyday digital experiences.
