Netflix is taking video games seriously, and they’re seeking a Game Director to help build a new “AAA PC game.”
The streaming platform is presently looking for excellent talent to work with Chacko Sonny, who has a long experience in the games business, including stints at Activision, Sony, and most recently Blizzard. According to the job description, they require:
“experience with FPS and/or third person shooter games” and “extensive experience working on live service games”
“Implement initial game features within the game prototype in Unreal Engine; Focus on rapid prototyping to quickly iterate to “find the fun”
According to the job description, Netflix will use Unreal Engine to develop the new AAA PC game, which must feature a “world/characters/narrative worthy of a Netflix film/TV series.”
Mike Verdu, Netflix’s VP of Game Development, stated last month in a TechCrunch interview:
“We’re seriously exploring a cloud gaming offering so that we can reach members on TVs and on PCs,”
Netflix appears to be developing a Fornite or Overwatch competitor after hiring one of the top directors in the video game industry. Additionally, the successful candidate will work at Netflix Games Studio LA.
