Netflix Plans to Implement A Google/NBCUniversal Advertising Partnership

Netflix Subs

Recently, rumors have circulated that Netflix is intending to launch a lower-cost ad-supported membership alternative, and now we have an idea that the advertisements might be provided by Google or NBCUniversal.

According to a Reuters article, Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos acknowledged at the Cannes Lions International Festival in an interview that two companies are in discussions to deliver ads for the ad-supported subscription.

After losing a large number of subscribers for the first time in a decade, the stated ad-supported subscription has started in talks.

The Co-Ceo added that:
“We’re not adding ads to Netflix as you know it today. We’re adding an ad tier for folks who say ‘hey, I want a lower price and I’ll watch ads’,”

Current subscribers will not be affected by the ad-supported subscription, although they may change their subs to the lower price. However, it is still a positive decision for the firm since, instead of losing subscribers, customers have the choice to acquire the cheaper one, and Netflix is still compensated for the ad partnership.
